Tasting Notes
Vinous 86/100
The 2003 Chateau d’Armailhac is mature on the nose with singed leather, sous-bois, morels and perhaps a hint of a sweaty saddle. But I like it. The palate is medium-bodied with lighter tannins, meaty and savory, missing a bit of grip with a touch of Brettanomyces that becomes more dominant as it opens in the glass. Tasted at the chateau. Anticipated maturity: 2023-2030

Deep garnet. Pruney fruit on the nose, a touch leathery. Some farmy notes on the palate and tannins pretty dry. Hard work and bitter on the finish. (JH) [21/03/2013]
Anticipated maturity: 2009-2014
Robert Parker 90
Tasted at Bordeaux Index’s "10-Year On" tasting in London. The Chateau d’Armailhac has a ripe, dark plum, Morello cherry and mint-scented bouquet with touches of leather emerging with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with a savoury, slightly gamey entry. There is good weight and volume here, decent acidity and a pleasant build in the mouth to the meaty finish with just a dash of white pepper. Fine. Tasted March 2013. [Neal Martin, 01/03/2013]
