Description
The Kyoto Gin -High Class- is a premium craft gin produced by the Kyoto Miyako Distillery, the first distillery in the Kyotamba region of Kyoto.
This expression is a sophisticated tribute to the floral and botanical heritage of Japan’s ancient capital, defined by its “luscious” texture and a distinctively spicy finish.
As part of the distillery’s “Nishijin-ori” series, the bottle is adorned with an authentic silk-woven label, making it a centerpiece for both back-bars and private collections.
The Botanicals: A Kyoto “Mizu” Garden
The identity of the High Class Gin is built upon a rich combination of 10 carefully selected botanicals.
The recipe balances traditional juniper with rare Japanese flora to create a profile that is both exotic and deeply rooted in Kyoto’s landscape.
Dianthus Flower: The prefectural flower of Kyoto, providing a delicate, elegant floral top-note.
Japanese Cinnamon (Nikki): Adds a warm, woody sweetness and a lingering spicy complexity.
Pristine Water: Utilizing the soft, high-quality water of the Kyotamba region, which ensures a smooth and “luscious” mouthfeel.
The Craft: Artistry in Every Detail
Nishijin-ori Label: Each bottle features a label made of Nishijin textile, a traditional craft of Kyoto known for its intricate weaving and historical prestige.
Texture & Spiciness: Unlike standard gins, the “High Class” is specifically crafted for a smooth, oily texture on the tongue, followed by a mild, warming spiciness that lingers through the finish.
Small-Batch Distillation: Produced at the Kyoto Miyako Distillery using traditional pot stills to maintain maximum botanical oil retention.
The Nose: Fragrant and floral. Intense aromas of sweet cinnamon and blooming dianthus, supported by fresh citrus zest and forest juniper.
The Palate: Round and “luscious.” The entry is smooth and sweet, leading into a complex mid-palate where the warmth of the Japanese cinnamon meets a crisp, botanical bite.
The Finish: Long and refined, characterized by a soft peppery spice and a faint floral echo.
