Description

100% Grand Cru Chardonnay

This cuvée is designed to showcase the finesse and energy typical of the Avize terroir. Unlike some of the more muscular “house styles,” Camille Bonville focuses on high-definition fruit and a “creamy” elegance. The wine undergoes full malolactic fermentation in stainless steel vats to preserve its bright citrus profile while adding a soft, approachable texture.

The result is a Champagne that balances the intense minerality of the Côte des Blancs with a lush, gourmand character.

The Experience: Refreshing and crystalline. A wine that transitions from a sharp, mineral entry to a voluminous, fruity mid-palate.

Aromas: Highly expressive. Recent reviews from mid-2025 highlight a bouquet of white peach, grapefruit, and acacia blossoms, followed by sophisticated “gourmet” notes of brioche, fresh almond, and a touch of mocha.

Palate: Clean and vibrant. It features a fine, persistent mousse and flavors of green apple and candied lemon peel. The 2019/2020 base blends (common in recent releases) offer a beautiful balance between youthful acidity and creamy depth.

The Finish: Elegant and persistent. It leaves a signature saline and flinty trail, a classic marker of its Grand Cru Avize origins.

Tasting Notes

JancisRobinson.com 16/20

Blend of 2019 and 2020. Disgorged September 2022. Dosage 8.3 g/l. Identical winemaking to the Franck Bonville Blanc de Blancs NV, and made by the same winemaker (Olivier Bonville) but from bought-in fruit from Avize. Soft, simple palate with baked-apple fruit and quite diffuse fizz. The dosage is perhaps a little obvious here, but there is fruit to match. Moderate length. Good standard champagne. James Suckling 92

"A very pure and linear Blanc de Blancs… notes of sliced lemons, white peaches, and flint." [James Suckling, 01/07/2023]
