Denomination:
Valpolicella Doc Superiore

Alcohol:

Production area:
Vineyards in the Area Doc Valpolicella, in the locality of Campiano, near Cazzano di Tramigna and in the locality of Cogollo in Tregnago.

Grape variety:
35% Corvina; 20% Corvinone; 30% Rondinella; 15% Molinara.

Grape harvest:
Mid of October.

Vinification:
Hand-picking and soft pressing of the grapes. We cool down the most obtained to 15°C for 24 hours. The temperature of fermentation is chelled daily and is between 18 and 30°C the maceration takes from 7 to 10 days, it depends on the vintage. We than let the wine age
in barriques and tonneaux for 6 months after the bottling
wie let age the wine in the bottle for minimum 4 month before to sell.

Characteristics:
Ruby red verging; the nose is complex
with rich flower scents of violets and roses and powerful
fruity aromas of cherries and sour black cherries with a
hint of spices; well-balanced with a Iight, smooth, slightly
tannic finish.

Food matches:
Ideal with nourishing first courses, entrecote or grilled meat.

Temperature:
Serve at 16°-17°C

Producer Profile

The Montetondo winery, is based 1000 mt from the Speedway exit of Soave-San Bonifacio, and at the base of the Montetondo hill and only 1 Km from the mediaeval center of Soave. The reception and the wine shop are open every day from 8:00 am till 7:30 pm and on Sunday from 9:00 am till 1 pm.

On the third week end of May, take place the “Festival of the Wine”, for the new vintage of wine, and on the third week end of September, the “Festival of the Grape”, for the picked grapes. In additional, every third Sunday of the month, there is the Market of the Antique machine. Soave, is far 20 minutes from Verona and Vicenza and 50 minutes from Venezia.

On the Monte Tenda hill, is based the Castle of Soave, where was guest Dante, that give the name “Soave” to the village and to the wine.

At the beginning of 1970, Aldo Magnabosco had bought at the base of the MonteTondo hill, 3 hectares of vineyards cultivated with Garganega grape and he built hire his house. In the end of 1970’s, Gino was entering the family business, carrying on as the second generation of grape growers, and he made the decision to build a new, larger and technologically advanced cellar. In the middle of 90’s, the third generation started with Stefania, Luca and later with Marta. In the same year, the family decided to restructure the winery and invest their experience in the Valpolicella area by purchasing the first vineyards in the hilly zone of Cazzano di Tramigna, in the locality of Campiano. From 1985 to 2015 around 40 hectors (99 acri) have been purchased in the best areas of Soave and Cazzano di Tramigna.
