Tasting Notes

Vinous 98

The 2019 La Mission Haut-Brion has a beautiful, floral bouquet with touches of pressed violet infusing the black fruit, exquisite delineation and focus; the new oak is seamlessly integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-boned tannins, pixelated, hints of blood orange and graphite towards the beautifully-framed finish that lingers long in the mouth. Exceptional. Tasted blind at the Southwold annual tasting. [Neal Martin, 28/02/2023]

Anticipated maturity: 2028-2060

JancisRobinson.com 17.5+

69.9% Semillon, 30.1% Sauvignon (Blanc and Gris). Barrel sample. Returns (after 2018) to a more classic, Semillon-dominated style. Lovely density and depth. Loads of fruit but all tucked away. Distinguished citrus, pear and floral aromas with a honeyed note as the wine opens. Same flavours but even more intensity. Generous fruit weight but balanced, the finish persistent, defined by a minerally edge. (JL) [09/06/2020]
