Tasting Notes
Vinous 92
The 2017 Musigny Grand Cru is clearly darker in color than others and quite limpid. Intense black cherry, wild strawberry and cassis scents storm from the glass, nicely defined but primal and showing quite a bit of new oak at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent tannins, fleshy and generous. Quite sweet toward the finish, which is just missing a little depth and complexity considering the status of the vineyard, though it does gain cohesion and poise in the glass. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting. [Neal Martin, 18/01/2022]
Anticipated maturity: 2025-2050
Robert Parker 94
The 2017 Musigny Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru is showing very well indeed, unfurling in the glass with aromas of cherries, rose petal, warm spices and orange rind, framed by creamy new wood. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, ample and velvety, with the greatest depth and dimension of any wine in the cellar, displaying excellent energy and completeness, and distinguished above all by striking length on the finish.
