Tasting Notes
Robert Parker 92
Stella di Campalto likes to give little nicknames for her wines. The 2014 Rosso di Montalcino is her "vino non vino" (the wine that is not a wine). The reason is because this Rosso appears so feather light, fleeting and ephemeral. In truth, this sums up Stella’s carefully contemplated house style, but this vintage takes that elegance to a new level. Despite the thin fabric of the wine, this Rosso shows tight inner energy and tension from within. Subtle forest berry and blue flower aromas are held in place by the wine’s fresh acidity. Including this wine, the estate’s total production is about 10,000 bottles per year.
