Tasting Notes

Robert Parker 93

"Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting, Boillot’s 2014 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Referts has a very terroir-driven, granitic/slate-scented bouquet that is extremely well delineated and potent. The palate is fresh with a lively, spicy opening. This is a powerful Puligny-Montrachet, very well balanced with a little more extraction than its peers. Yet it remains very well poised, and what it lacks in finesse, it compensates for in sheer untrammeled flavor. Give this 3-4 years in bottle." [Neal Martin, 31/10/2017]

Sweet and perfumed. A bit astringent but with great rich cough-sweet aromas. [11/01/2016]

Vinous 90+

Medium lemon-yellow color. Aromas of white peach, lemon, licorice, lichee and crushed stone. Chewy and sharply chiseled, nicely combining white peach fruit with saline minerality. This parcel is situated close to Meursault but this 2014 is classic Puligny in its very dry, sharply chiseled character. Really shows the salty side of 2014. Lydie notes that this cuvee has been gaining depth in recent years. [Stephen Tanzer, 09/01/2016]
