Tasting Notes

JancisRobinson.com 18.0

All in new 335-litre barrels. And this vineyard is only 50 m from Combettes in Puligny. Fairly closed but rich and nutty. But not at all heavy or fat. Pierre-Yves suggests that the natural character of Meursault is as minerally as that of Puligny and the fatness of Meursault if often a question of style rather than terroir. (JH) [07/06/2009]

Anticipated maturity: 2011-2018

Vinous 92+

Bright pale yellow. Perfumed aromas of orange blossom, oatmeal and hazelnut lifted by a cool stony character; an essence of premier cru Meursault. Then fat, sweet and full in the mouth, with impressive volume leavened by spicy minerality. Very powerful wine but lighter on its feet than a number of these 2007s. At 12% potential alcohol, this fruit was considerably less ripe than the Folatieres, noted Colin. [Stephen Tanzer, 09/01/2009]
