Tasting Notes
Robert Parker 91
Tasted at the Roumier dinner at The Ledbury. This bottle of Bonnes-Mares ’97 is not quite as fresh as the one drunk at the same restaurant some two years ago. Earthier on the nose than I recall: wild strawberry, raspberry ad mulberry with just a touch of undergrowth. The palate is animally on the entry, a little rustic, but it coalesces with aeration. Noticeable acidity with great balance and poise, hints of chestnut infusing the sensual, rounded finish. Very fine, if capriciousa and not as a oefeistya as before. Drink now-2020. Tasted May 2010. Vinous 91+
Good full red. Aromatic nose of rose petal, cocoa bean and peony. Large-scaled, rich and mouthfilling; lush and seamless. Has the uncanny sweetness of the vintage best bottles. An herbal nuance contributes complexity. Finishes quite long and ripely tannic. This should age well. [Stephen Tanzer, 03/01/2000]
