Producer Profile

Protected by a historic two-meter-high stone wall dating back centuries, Clos Marey-Monge is a masterpiece of geological diversity. Situated at the base of the Pommard hill, its rich soils feature a complex mosaic of alluvium, limestone, and ancient clay carried by the Avant-Dheune river. The Monopole cuvée represents a master blend of all seven micro-terroirs within the Clos, combining old-vine depth (vines up to 80 years old) with organic and biodynamic precision.

Tasting Profile Gleaming ruby in color with crimson highlights, the 2017 Clos Marey-Monge opens with an expressive, layered bouquet of fresh dark cherry, wild strawberry, graphite, and warm spice, layered over delicate earth and light smoky nuances. On the palate, it strikes an exquisite balance between power and aerial grace. Silky, fine-grained tannins frame a core of ripe red fruits and chocolate undertones, brightened by vibrant acidity that carries into a long, mineral-driven finish.

Serving & Cellaring While displaying remarkable charm and approachability today, this benchmark Pommard has the structural depth to age gracefully for 20+ years. If drinking now, give it a 45-minute decant to allow its complex aromas to unfold. Serve at 16°C alongside roasted duck breast, rack of lamb, wild mushroom risotto, or aged Comté cheese.
