Description

100% Grand Cru

The 2005 Vintage from Mailly Grand Cru is a rare expression of a year defined by warmth and perfect ripeness. In this 1.5L Magnum format, the wine has benefited from an extended, slow maturation in Mailly’s historic chalk cellars, resulting in a Champagne of immense structural integrity, “gourmet” richness, and a remarkably fresh finish for its age.

A blend of 75% Pinot Noir and 25% Chardonnay, all sourced from 100% Grand Cru plots, this 2005 Millésime is now in its peak drinking window offering a sophisticated balance between youthful fruit and complex autolytic (yeasty) development.

The Experience: A powerful, broad-shouldered Champagne with a deep golden hue and a creamy, persistent mousse.

Aromas: A lush and evolved nose. Expect intense notes of candied citrus, dried apricots, and honey, layered over a base of roasted almonds, gingerbread, and toasted brioche.

Palate: Full-bodied and expansive. The Pinot Noir provides a vinous, “meaty” structure, while the Chardonnay lends a streak of acidity that cuts through the richness. Flavors of baked pear and praline dominate the mid-palate.

The Finish: Long, warming, and elegant, ending with Mailly’s signature smoky minerality and a hint of spice.
