Producer Profile
Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey is widely regarded as one of the most elite and influential white wine producers in the world today. Based in Chassagne-Montrachet, the domaine has achieved “cult” status, with its wines becoming some of the most sought-after “unicorns” in Burgundy.
The domaine was founded in 2005, but its roots run deep through two of Burgundy’s most storied families: the Colins of Saint-Aubin and the Moreys of Chassagne-Montrachet.
The Pedigree: A Joining of Dynasties
- The Colin Lineage: Pierre-Yves is the eldest son of Marc Colin. He served as the winemaker at his father’s legendary Saint-Aubin estate from 1994 to 2005, a period often described as a “golden age” for the property.
- The Morey Connection: Pierre-Yves is married to Caroline Morey, daughter of the famed Jean-Marc Morey. Together, they manage their respective domaines side-by-side in a state-of-the-art facility in Chassagne.
- The Independence: In 2005, Pierre-Yves left the family estate to establish his own domaine with a 6-hectare inheritance. Today, the estate has grown to approximately 13 hectares, supplemented by high-end négociant fruit where Pierre-Yves strictly dictates the picking dates.
