The 2015 Saint Aubin 1e Cru en Remilly is superb, opening in the glass with aromas of apple, iodine, lightly toasted nuts and a subtle top note of mint. On the palate, the wine is cool, medium to full-bodied and concentrated, with a broad attack, sappy acids, a deep core and a chalky, pure finish. Effortlessly poised and with lovely textural refinement, this Saint-Aubina which was bottled in January 2017a is still quite reserved, especially by the standards of the often rather generous, giving 2015 vintage. Give it at least a handful of years in the cellar to realize all its potential.

Pale, bright yellow. Precise but subdued scents of lemon and wet stone. Very pure but closed, conveying lovely energy and juicy, citrussy cut to its concentrated lemon zest, mandarin orange and stone flavors. Colin’s Chateniere may be richer than this wine but it doesn’t not have the same degree of energy. Finishes very smooth, seamless and long. Last year, Colin told me that this wine has only 12.3% alcohol.

Cask sample. Made in smaller quantity than usual because the produce of the drought-stressed parcel went into the Bourgogne Chardonnay. Dense and nervy on the nose. Big and bold on the front palate with lots of ambition. Pretty long. I retasted this after the grands crus and it didn t suffer too much. Lip-smacking and long.
