A regional secret no longer — 90+ points and rising.

Gold Cock is the oldest and most storied whisky brand in the Czech Republic, with a legacy of distillation dating back to 1969. Its modern renaissance is steered by the world-renowned Rudolf Jelínek distillery in Vizovice — a producer with over a century of expertise in fruit distillates — bringing rigour and refinement to a brand that was already ahead of its time.

Named in honour of the fertile Haná region of Moravia — known as the "Moravian Gold" for its world-class malting barley — the iconic golden rooster emblem signals exactly what's inside: a single malt of uncompromising local character, consistently earning 90+ point scores from international critics for its old-world intensity and distinct continental profile.

Moravian Craftsmanship

100% local ingredients. A climate unlike any other whisky region on earth.

Every Gold Cock expression begins with local two-row Moravian barley, traditionally floor-malted at the historic Bruntál malthouse to preserve its rich, bready profile. The spirit is then laid down in the aging cellars of the Wallachian hills at Vizovice, where significant seasonal temperature swings cause the casks to "breathe" — accelerating the interaction between spirit and wood, and producing a depth of character that rivals spirits many years its senior.

The choice of wood sets Gold Cock apart from almost every other single malt in the world. Rather than American white oak, the distillery favours European winter oak — often sourced from local Czech forests. These tight-grained casks impart a signature spicy complexity, firm tannins, and a structural grip that is the unmistakable hallmark of the Moravian style.

Key releases for the collector

Three expressions that chart the full range of Moravian single malt character.

01

10 Year Old — The Flagship

Distilled in Arnold Holstein pot stills and bottled at 49.2% ABV — a strength that references the latitude of the Vizovice distillery (49.2° N). Toasty, nutty, and balanced with caramelised malt, dried orchard fruits, and a long, warming vanilla finish.

02

20 Year Old — Archive Series

A rare bridge between past and present: spirits moved from the original Dolany distillery and finished in heavily charred Czech oak. Deep mahogany, unctuous texture, and intense notes of dried plums, dark chocolate, tobacco leaf, and old library woodiness.

03

Peated — Continental Smoke

A distinctly Moravian take on smoke. Using local peat, this expression delivers an earthy, herbal smokiness — far removed from the medicinal brine of Islay malts. Rich cereal sweetness balanced by a sophisticated, dry wood smoke finish.
